Laker split the weekend with an impressive win over the Owls.....

The Lakers took their show across the river to face off with the Hudson Crusaders on Saturday night.  The Crusaders got things started early on a Cody Rich goal just 7 minutes into the game.  Mackie Hayman made it 2-0 Crusaders at the half way point of the period and Derek Terrian scored in the 16th minute for a 3-0 Hudson lead.

After the Lakers changed netminders, Tory Snick scored as did Marcel Minarik for a 5-0 Hudson advantage not 8 minutes into the 2nd period.  From there, the Lakers finally got going.  Adam Wiertzema, back with the team from last year, scored his first of the season for the Lakers at 13:36.  Ryan Heid and Brandon Zurick assisted.  Connor Bodin then connected on a power play, with help from Tadayoshi Shibata and Michael Gullan to keep the momentum going forward.

The third period was another step back for the purple as Snick scored his 2nd of the game at 3:07.  Nick Townes finished the scoring at 10:24 for a 7-2 Crusader win.

The Lakers were right back at it on Sunday night.  A tough Owls team came to MN Made for their first meeting of the season.  Despite outshooting the Owls 13-6 in the first period, the Lakers went to the locker room trailing 1-0 thanks to a Matt Strang goal at 18:05.  Early in the second period, Tadayoshi Shibata scored, from Bodin and Anton Martirosian to tie it.  The Lakers briefly took the lead on a Heid goal that was assisted by Dylan Weigel.  The Owls tied it, however, on a Sheldon Kihle goal with just over a minute remaining in the second period.

The final period started in a 2-2 tie, and it remained a tight tense affair until the 17:34 mark when Brad Johnson pushed in a puck during a scrum in front of the Owls net.  Shibata and Tyler Brodersen assisted on the game winner.

With the victory, the Lakers improve to 3-1.  This weekend, the Lakers take on the Wisconsin Dells Ducks on Friday and Saturday at the waterpark capital of the USA.
