With last weekend behind them the Edina Lakers show what they are made of..

The Edina Lakers looked to rebound from last weekends tough trip to the Wisconsin Dells on Friday night.  Their opponent was the Maple Grove Engery.  This game was over before it started, as the Lakers got 3 goals in the first period.  In the end, Adam Weirtzma scored a hat trick to go with an assist, Ryan Heid and Tyler Brodersen each had a goal and two assists.  Brad Johnson scored twice, and Connor Bodin and James Dolen had a goal and an assist each.  Getting 2 assists each were Jonathon Smolders and Tyler Robison.  Five other Lakers had one point on the game.   Backup goaltender Matt Tushaus had 26 saves on 28 shots to earn his first victory.
With the momentum from that victory, the Lakers welcomed the Rochester Ice Hawks into Mn Made on Saturday.  In the first period, Branden Zurick scored at the 11:30 mark, with the single assist to Brad Johnson.  In the second period the Lakers scored again.  Matt Kroening got his first goal as a Laker with assists to Tyler Robison and Luke Vogelgesang.  The Ice Hawks got on the board just over six minutes later to cut the Laker lead to 2-1.  Adam Weirtzma scored a power play goal, the first scored against Rochester all year, at 12:04.  Vogelgesang and Tony Martirosian assisted.  In the third period, nursing a two goal lead, Tadayoshi Shibata scored the first of his two goals of the game.  Brodersen assisted on this one.  Later, after the Hawks put one on the board, Shibata scored short handed from Michael Gullen and Johnathon Smolders.  The Lakers hung on to win 5 - 2 over the Ice Hawks.
Next weekend, the Lakers have 3 games.  On Friday they play at the Owls in Isanti, then on Saturday they face off for the first time this year with the Twin Cities Northern Lights before finishing the weekend on Sunday vs the Crusaders.  Both Saturdays, and Sundays, games will be played at Mn Made.
