Mullets Defenseman Commits to Gustavus Adolphus

MINNEAPOLIS -- College commits continue to roll out for the Minnesota Mullets. On Tuesday, the Mullies announced defenseman Sebastian Frank has committed to D-III Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN.

“I’m really looking forward to next year on and off the ice at Gustavus,” Frank said. “The hockey program there has a rich history with a great coaching staff. The campus and facilities just felt like home. It’s hard to imagine going anywhere else.”

Frank, a three-year captain with the Mullets, finished the season with two goals and seven assists in 44 games, but excelled as a defensive specialist; regularly tasked with shutting down opponents’ top lines, Frank led the Mullets in blocked shots and guided the squad to an 81.7% penalty kill. Consistent as can be, Frank missed just 11 games in four seasons with the Mullets (Frank joined the club when they were still the Forest Lake Lakers), playing every game the last two seasons.

“The support from my family, teammates, and the Mullets organization along the way means so much to me,” Frank added. “I’ve loved every minute with the Mullets, but I’m also excited to start the next chapter. It will be a challenge to balance the workload and schedule between study and hockey, but being a Mullet has helped me to become more disciplined and I will use what I’ve learned here when facing adversity in any challenge to come.”

While he is undecided on a specific field or major, Frank plans to begin studying in science, citing Gustavus’ wide array of programs as another factor in his decision.

“I’m extremely excited for Sebastian and forever grateful for what he has done for this team and organization,” Mullets Head Coach Chris Walby said. “I’ll forever cherish the years we’ve spent together and the memories made. Gustavus is getting a great defenseman, teammate, and leader. He will be missed here, but I’m very much looking forward to watching him compete at the next level and for him to enjoy life as a college student.”

Frank will join Mullets teammate Cooper Hoheisel at Gustavus next fall. Hoheisel announced his commitment to Gustavus in April.

With the commitment to Gustavus Adolphus, Frank is the 37th player from Walby’s programs to advance to the NCAA level over the past eight years. For more information on the Mullets program, go to www.mulletshockey.com.
