HOLLON ADDED TO MULLETS ROSTER

The Minnesota Mullets are proud to share that Cooper Hollon will join the squad in the 2022-23 season. The forward is set to travel up the Mississippi from La Crescent to Minneapolis.

Hollon is a natural-born competitor whose desire to play and to win drives his game. He is even more excited to get to stay in the State of Hockey to continue his playing career.

“It means a lot for me to stay in Minnesota,” he said. “I’ve always liked how much competitive hockey is going on and the room for growth is awesome.”

Hollon joins the Mullets after playing four seasons with La Crescent in the MSHSL and two seasons with the Minnesota Grey Ducks 18U AAA club. As a player who saw incredible growth through his previous levels of play, the Mullets might be just what he needs to reach new heights.

Through 80 games played with La Crescent, Hollon accumulated a total of 39 points. More impressively, the attacker appeared on the scoresheet 20 times in 24 games in his senior season, averaging just under a point per game (9-11=20).

It was while with the MN Grey Ducks that Hollon first got a look at future teammate and recent Mullets recruit Ben Willcoxson. The Grey Ducks and the Arizona Bobcats faced off in the 2022 Chipotle-USA Hockey Youth Tier II 18U 3A national tournament earlier this year.

It was that game between the Bobcats and the Grey Ducks that Mullets’ head coach Chris Walby first watched Hollon compete. Standing at six-foot-three and weighing over 190 lbs., the 2004 forward was hard to miss.

The southpaw is not only noticeable on the ice due to his size, his skill adds another layer to his game. It was this combination of talent and physicality that drew Coach Walby to Hollon.

“Cooper is a big, strong, left handed winger that’s physical with a scoring touch,” said Walby. “He competes hard and will make an immediate impact in our lineup. I’m very excited about his future here.”

There is no doubt Coach Walby and Hollon are on the same page when it comes to the forward’s future with the Mullets.

There is much anticipation and excitement on both ends for the arrival of the Minnesota native in the Twin Cities and he is eager to get started.

“I chose the Mullets because it’s close to home and I really like the coach. I am most excited to make an impact and win games for this team.”
