MULLETS SIGN WRUBLE

PHILADELPHIA HOCKEY CLUB AAA PROSPECT OFF TO MINNESOTA

The Minnesota Mullets are proud to announce the addition of forward Ryan Wruble for the 2022-23 season. The Mullies’ newest recruit is set to travel from the Quaker State to the State of Hockey.

Wruble joins the Mullets after three seasons of high school hockey at Northampton Area and one season playing AAA hockey with the Philadelphia Hockey Club.

In three years with Northampton, the 2003 forward played in nearly 50 games and recorded 65 points (38-27=65), averaging 1.33 points per game. He also posted two points (1-1=2) in two playoff games with the AAA 18U club.

Playing for PHC was his first time away from home, something he will have to do again when he arrives in the Twin Cities.

“My first time away from home for a long period of time was super different to me but my billet family/ coach, Corey Sosner, was amazing at accepting me into the family like I was his son.”

Wruble expressed equal parts nervousness and excitement at the idea of moving to the Land of 10,000 Lakes, but as Mullet fans already know, this team is a family. The same hospitality that was extended to Wruble at PHC will be extended to him here as well.

In fact, it already has. “I flew out to practice with a couple members of the team as well as with the coach and he made me feel super welcomed,” said Wruble of his future team.

Besides his brief practice time, Wruble’s time with PHC gave him his first look at the next level of hockey, raising the bar of competition by just one more degree and helping him to develop more as a person.

“My AAA experience at Philadelphia Hockey Club was great,” said the forward. “I met a lot of great people to help me grow as a young adult… Playing [with PHC] definitely helped me progress into the hockey player I am today because of how competitive it was.”

Mullets’ Head Coach Chris Walby agrees with the sentiment. “His AAA background will help him adjust quickly to the demands of our daily routine and the league’s skill level.”

It was actually a PHC teammate of Wruble who gave him the nudge to come to Minnesota, he mentioned. “I chose the Mullets because my buddy from my prior team recommended giving them a look to play junior hockey.”

No one is more grateful for the unnamed teammate than Coach Walby, who spoke highly of his newest recruit. The coach mentioned, “Ryan is going to be an immediate impact player for us this fall. He skates and shoots well, has good size and is very coachable.”

“I’m excited to get him here and to get started,” he added.

Coach Walby is not the only one excited for the arrival of the Pennsylvania native. As with all competitors, Wruble is ready to get here and face the challenge this next step brings.

“The thing I am most looking forward to in my career is to grow as a player and move to the next level. I am excited to work as hard as I can and hopefully win a championship with the Mullets.”
